We are thrilled to announce that some of our 1st-8th graders will have the opportunity to compete with other students from area private and home schools in a UIL-style academic competition.
The meet will take place on Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Fulton School in Heath, Texas.
There are multiple areas in which our students will compete. These are:
Onsite Drawing, Creative Writing, Ready Writing, Mathematics, Science, Number Sense, Social Studies, Storytelling, Spelling, and Computer Media.
The methods used for determining which students will represent Wylie Prep varied based on the grade level and the event. Some were given a preliminary test within their classroom to determine participants and for others we asked teachers to select the students based on their knowledge of the students’ abilities and experience with them in the classroom.
Prizes will be awarded at the meet for first through sixth place for each event in each grade level.
We believe this will be a great opportunity for our students to use his or her God-given abilities to represent Christ and Wylie Prep!
